Lead Early Childhood/UPK –  Saratoga Springs (full year)  This position serves as a primary caregiver in a classroom of Early Head Start children by planning, implementing, and supervising all classroom staff, routines and activities. Shares responsibility for parent involvement in the program and linking parents with their family and health advocates. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required. Position requires a BS in Early Childhood as well as a NYS Teacher Certification N-6 in apreschool category.  One year of supervision and one year in a preschool classroom is also required.   Must have a valid driver’s license.  Offering $17.78/hr. 40 hrs/wk, 51 wks/yr.

Lead Early Childhood/Center Director  –  Galway  (school year) This position serves as a primary caregiver in a classroom of Early Head Start children by planning, implementing, and supervising all classroom routines and activities. Shares responsibility for parent involvement in the program and linking parents with their family and health advocates. Will be responsible for daily center-based program functioning while assisting the Region Manager in providing leadership and implementing assigned functions of the site in the areas of child and family services, fiscal, human resources, transportation/vehicles, facilities, food services, inventory, child safety and technology.  Occasional evening and weekend work may be required. Position requires a BS in Early Childhood plus one year of supervision and one year in a classroom.   Must have a valid driver’s license.  Offering $16.26/hr + an additional .25 when Center Director approved. 40 hrs/wk, 44 wks/yr.

Assistant Teacher – Galway (school year)  This position works with the Teacher in developing activities for preschool children to provide them with varied experiences and an appropriate learning environment. Works with typically developing children and children with disabilities. Assistance is given to the teacher in carrying out the goals, policies, and activities designed to implement educational objectives and performance standards. This position works with families to promote parent involvement in the program.  Minimum requirement is CDA (Preschool) credential or higher (Associates or Bachelors in Early Childhood Education) plus experience working with young children. Valid driver’s license required.  40 hrs/wk, 44 wks/yr, $11.94/hr.

Family Advocate – Mechanicville (full year) Supports the role of parents in family well-being and positive parent-child relationships by encouraging parent involvement in Head Start while providing advocacy and social service guidance based on family goals.  Responsible for recruiting eligible children and introducing families to all Head Start options and other SCEOC programs. Completes initial application and eligibility assessment for all children.  Identifies child and family needs for center-based families. Provides referrals, advocacy and follow-up to all EOC programs and community agencies. Provides case management for center-based families and facilitates case management meetings and conferences. Associates Degree in Human Services and at least 2 years’ experience in a human services field.    Position requires strong advocacy skills relating to health and social services in support of families.  Must have knowledge of community resources and the skills to link families to the appropriate agencies and services.  Working knowledge of governmental and social services programs and resources required.  Valid driver’s license is necessary.  $11.68/hr, 40hrs/wk, 51 wks/yr.

Health Advocate –  Ballston Spa (full year)  Ensuring that families have health insurance coverage and an ongoing source of continuous, accessible health and dental care. HS Diploma/GED and two years’ experience in a related field working in public health or nutrition required. Valid driver’s license required.  Must be willing and able to obtain and maintain basic first aid and CPR certification. Required to be MAT trained and certified to pass medications as needed. $11.68/hr, 40 hrs/wk, 51 wks/yr.

Home Visitors – positions in Malta, Saratoga and Corinth (full year) This position is responsible for supporting families who are not in a class setting to move toward school readiness. The Home Visitor works with families to assesses and identify barriers that impede school readiness and strengths that encourage school readiness.  The position is mobile and requires staff to complete home visits as described. Requirements are a minimum of a home-based CDA credential or comparable credential, or equivalent coursework (12 Early Childhood Education credits) as part of an Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree. Knowledge and experience in Child Development and Early Childhood Education; the principles of child health, safety and nutrition; adult learning principles; and family dynamics. Experience working with young and preschool age children is a must. Must have knowledge of community resources and the skills to link families to the appropriate agencies and services.   Must have a reliable vehicle and valid license required.  Mileage reimbursement is offered along with 40 hrs/wk, $12.70/hr.

Project Assistant– Malta  (part-time/25 hours/week) Office support needed for Head Start home based program. Experience in an office clerical role is required along with working knowledge of Word/Excel/Outlook, basic filing and data entry. May be asked to assist in classroom when necessary.  Must be willing and able to obtain and maintain  Basic First Aid and CPR.  High School Diploma/GED and valid driver’s license required.  $11.68/hr, 51 weeks/yr. Hours are 9:00am – 2:00pm.

Teacher Aide – Mechanicville (full year)  – Will assist the Lead and Assistant Teachers with daily Head Start classroom needs.  May fill in for vacancies and absences when and where needed.  Must have High School Diploma/GED and experience in a Preschool classroom is helpful.  30 hrs/wk, 51 wks/yr, $11.28/hr

Substitute Teachers and Substitute Teacher Aides – We have positions available that require varying degrees of experience from Lead Teachers to Assistant Teachers to Teacher Aides.  All positions serve in a preschool classrooms and assist in facilitating team planning, implementation, and supervision of classroom activities. Will work with developing children and children with disabilities. Requirements based on teaching level below:

Lead Teachers: Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood with a minimum of 1 year experience, NYS Teacher Certification in a preschool category is helpful but not required, Supervisory experience a plus

Assistant Teachers: Associates in Early Childhood or enrollment in a CDA program is acceptable

Teacher Aides: High School Diploma/GED and experience working with preschool children

Fiscal Manager

Under the supervision of the Executive Director, directs the fiscal activities of all SCEOC programs.  Primary focus on fiscal management of grants, monitoring program operating budgets, maintaining accurate accounting of all agency funds and preparing expenditure reports.  Fiscal management of all grants supporting SCEOC requiring familiarity with each budget, budget categories, reporting requirements and timetables. Supervises and monitors agency accounting procedures to insure internal controls and segregation of duties. Monitors program operating budgets so as to insure fiscal viability of the agency, maintains accurate accounting of all funds.  Monitors the accurate and timely processing of payroll checks, payroll procedures, and payroll variations.  Supervises, monitors, and evaluates Fiscal/HR Assistants. Must have a baccalaureate degree in accounting, business, fiscal management, or a related field required. Supervisory experience required, with 5 years’ experience in a position of significant fiscal responsibility. Excellent oral and written communication skills.  Ability to write reports, procedures, business correspondence.


Heat Technician  Serves as the primary heat technician on the job site. Coordinate with Auditors and Program Director to perform the prescribed job in a manner that is thorough, courteous, expeditious, and safe. Diagnosis malfunctions of heating system and/or components for the purpose of identifying repair/replacement. Repairs/replaces heating system and/or components for the purpose of providing renovation and preventive maintenance. Review job folders and determine the work to be accomplished and materials needed to complete the project. Provide direction or guidance to crew on job site as needed.  HVAC Certification or BPI Certification as a Heating Professional. HS Diploma/GED required. 3 years “on-the-job” experience as an HVAC Technician. Demonstrated aptitude for troubleshooting and diagnosing technical problems.  Knowledge of various HVAC systems including hydronic heating systems, steam heating systems, and forced air heating systems. A clean, valid New York State driver’s license.   Position offers $16.00 per hour with excellent benefits!

Energy Services Auditor Performs Energy Audits for the Weatherization Assistance Program (WAP) and assigns crews to complete scheduled work projects for both WAP and Empower/NYSERDA Programs.   Assists in the daily operations of the Energy Services Department. Coordinate on-site work of weatherization Crew Chiefs & Crews while providing technical assistance.  Ensure work standards meet the minimums set forth in the Standard Work System (SWS).Schedule customers for energy audits and perform audits in accordance with guidelines set by the Division of Housing and Community Renewal’s (DHCR), Bureau of Energy Affordability and the EOC’s Weatherization Assistance Program. Obtain and maintain the following certifications:  BPI Analyst, Heating and Mobile Home. Observe, analyze and evaluate homes using BPI standards based on appropriate building science techniques.  Educate clients on ways to save energy within their homes.

Must have an Associate’s Degree in related field, HSD/GED required. Supervisory experience in a building construction or engineering environment is necessary.  BPI certification as an Auditor in the fields of Envelope and Building Analyst a plus but we are willing to train. Working knowledge of modeling software such as TREAT, EmpCalc or similar. Utilize math skills and carpentry knowledge to evaluate and solve problems.  Knowledge of various HVAC systems including hydronic heating systems, steam heating systems, and forced air heating systems. Electrical knowledge helpful but not required. Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate with people of diverse social and economic backgrounds. Ability to work well under pressure and exercise good judgement. Maintain a positive attitude with staff and clientele. A clean, valid New York State driver’s license.

Energy Services Crew Member   Will install energy savings measures in homes to reduce the energy burden on customers within Saratoga and Schenectady Counties. Operates hand tools and equipment necessary for the installation of high density blown cellulose in sidewalls and attics, replacing windows, and installing air-sealing measures for doors/windows.  Fulfill the work scope as directed by the Crew Chief and/or Production Supervisor including, but not limited to, work on ladders, basements, attics, outside and confining spaces.  Responsible for knowledge of and incorporating newly provided Weatherization techniques, such as the Minneapolis blower door, digital manometer, combustion appliance zone (CAZ) testing, pressure diagnostics, etc. Responsible for the safe operation of hand tools and equipment.  Candidate must have a High School Diploma/GED and a minimum of 2 years “on-the-job” building construction or carpentry experience.  Able to lift 50 pound tools and equipment and able to crawl under, in, and through tight and/or dirty spaces.  Pull or reach with arms and/or hands, crouch, bend or kneel, climb stairs or ladders.  Will work from heights no greater than 25 feet. Must be tolerant of exposure to all weather conditions (heat, cold, snow and rain); for periods up to 8 hours. Good organizational and communication skills, interpersonal skills, and ability to maintain a positive attitude.   A clean, valid New York State driver’s license is required. Volunteers Needed!

We are looking for volunteers who would like to spend time giving back to their community.  All positions require someone who is friendly, inviting and enjoys working with the public.  Must be able to lift at least 40 pounds.

We have the following opportunities available:

Food Pantry  – Assists at our Ballston Spa location with the stocking of shelves, filling of food orders and assisting customers to their cars.

Mobile Food Pantry – Assists our advocate while the Mobile Food Pantry is out on the road. He/she would assist in loading the vehicle, filling orders and assisting customers in designated locations throughout the county.

Soup Kitchen – Assists at our Soup Kitchen located in Saratoga Springs.  Includes the preparation of food, serving our customers and breakdown.


Medical/Nutrition Assistant  Will play an integral role in providing clinic and office support in our Bath Street office as well as in off –site WIC clinics throughout the county. Will gather information from clients and customers for nutrition assessments and perform a variety of support tasks including but not limited to determining program categorical eligibility along with residential and income eligibility.  Responsible for screening participants, collecting information for nutrition assessments, providing referrals, and assisting in planning and evaluating participant-centered nutrition education.  Candidate must have at least 2 years’ experience in nutrition services and/or a health related field or be an LPN. Bilingual in Spanish preferred!  Must be flexible to work Thursday evenings and on a rotating schedule for the first Saturday of the month.  Must possess a vehicle and have a valid New York State driver’s license. May occasionally be required to drive own vehicle to temporary off-site clinics. Position offers $12.00 per hour with benefits.
