Health Services Coordinator

This position oversees the facilitation of Health Services (Medical, Dental, and Child Safety) as per Head Start Performance Standards, NYS Daycare Regulations, local program policy and, if relevant, other governing authority within Saratoga County.  Will involve provision of direct services in the health area in the absence of a health advocate. Assists Health and Nutrition Manager in planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of services for medical, nutrition, dental, and child safety. Requires regular travel to make contact with staff, families, and other agencies.  Some evening and weekend work may occasionally be required for events such as home visits, parent teacher conferences, Family Committee meetings, social or community events, etc.  Minimum requirement is a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), preferred or degree in a Health Related field.  Experience working with young children and supervision experience is necessary.  Must be willing and able to obtain Basic First Aid training and CPR certification within the initial probationary period and maintain that certification. Full-time, full year offering  $16.00/hr.

Regional Center Base Education Coordinator  Supports and supervises the Lead Teachers in the assigned region. Coordinates with regional management staff to integrate Early Childhood development and education goals with Family Partnerships, Health, Disability Services and parent education efforts to ensure integrated child and family service delivery. Observes center-based programming and to provide guidance and support, documenting the observations and providing feedback. Participates in record keeping, data collection and the analysis of the data in support of the Head Start Outcomes Process. Works closely with the Regional Home-base Coordinators to provide a strong developmentally appropriate program for all children.  Will assist in the classroom as needed.

A BS/BA degree in Early Childhood Education or related field with a minimum of 6 courses in Early Childhood Education. A Master’s degree is preferred. New York State Teaching Certification in Birth to Grade 2 or N-6 is required. Minimum of three years of teaching experience in an early childhood program. Minimum of three years of supervisory experience. Must be willing and able to obtain Basic First Aid training and CPR certification within the initial probationary period and maintain that certification. Full-time, full year offering  $16.00/hr.

Lead Early Childhood Teacher/UPK /Center Director – Saratoga Springs (school year) This position serves as a primary caregiver in a classroom of Early Head Start children by planning, implementing, and supervising all classroom routines and activities. Because this position is one part of a large system of services provided to children and families, this position also shares responsibility for parent involvement in the program and linking parents with their family and health advocates. Will also be responsible for daily center-based program functioning while assisting the Region Manager in providing leadership and implementing assigned functions of the site in the areas of child and family services, fiscal, human resources, transportation/vehicles, facilities, food services, inventory, child safety and technology in order to provide reliable, healthy and safe services to children and families, and to support the goals of the program. This position serves as a member of the region’s management team. Evening and weekend work may be required. Position requires a BS in Early Childhood plus one year of supervision and one year in a classroom as well as NYS Teacher Certification N-6 with preschool experience. Experience with safe and thorough basic cleaning and sanitation practices.  Knowledge of facilities operations is helpful. Must have valid/clean driver’s license. 40 hours per week, school year. $17.50/hr + an additional .25 when Center Director approved.

Assistant Teachers – Ballston Spa and Clifton Park  school year – This position works with the Teacher in developing activities for preschool children to provide them with varied experiences and an appropriate learning environment. Works with typically developing children and children with disabilities. Assistance is given to the teacher in carrying out the goals, policies, and activities designed to implement educational objectives and performance standards. This position works with families to promote parent involvement in the program.  Minimum requirement is CDA (Preschool) credential or higher (Associates or Bachelors in Early Childhood) plus experience working with young children. 40 hrs/wk, $11.75/hr.

Home Visitors – positions in Malta, Saratoga and Corinth (full year) Supports the role of parents in positive parent-child relationships by encouraging their involvement in the Head Start Program while providing social service guidance and advocacy based on family goals determined by the family. Provides comprehensive home-based school readiness services to young children and families.  Requirements are a minimum of a home-based CDA credential or comparable credential, or equivalent coursework (12 Early Childhood Education credits) as part of an associate’s or bachelor’s degree.  At least 2 years’ experience in a human services or early childhood education field. Experience in performing basic social assessments desired. Experience working with young children is a must. Home visiting experience desired.  Must have a reliable vehicle and valid license required.  Mileage reimbursement is offered along with 40 hrs/wk, $12.50/hr.

Cook / Nutrition Specialist –  Clifton Park (full year) Responsible for ordering, cooking, serving and documentation of meals for a preschool classroom following CACFP guidelines.  Includes high volume food preparation, following menus, inventory control, and adherence to health and food safety codes.  Must maintain strict cleanliness of the kitchen as well as food service and storage areas. Willing and able to obtain and maintain Serv/Safe Certification, Basic Frist Aid and CPR.  Knowledge of nutrition, basic food preparation and sanitation necessary. HS Diploma/GED and experience in a kitchen and cafeteria required. Valid driver’s license is necessary.  $11.50/hr, 35 hrs/wk .

Nutrition Aide –  Clifton Park  (school year) Completes routine kitchen/dining room/food chores as assigned.  Prepares necessary food and serving items or service prior to or after use.  Participates in kitchen clean up, inventory and other kitchen tasks as requested.  Shops for home based programming needs.  Experience in food service and working with preschool children desired. Must have a High School Diploma/GED and a valid/clean driver’s license. $11.10/hr, 30 hrs/wk, school year.

Health Advocate –  Saratoga and Ballston Spa (full year)  Ensuring that families have health insurance coverage and an ongoing source of continuous, accessible health and dental care. HS Diploma/GED and two years’ experience in a related field working in public health or nutrition required. Must be willing and able to obtain and maintain basic first aid and CPR certification. Required to be MAT trained and certified to pass medications as needed. $11.50/hr, 40 hrs/wk, 51 wks/yr.

Teacher Aide –  Clifton Park  and Mechanicville  – school year and full year openings Will assist the Lead and Assistant Teachers with daily Head Start classroom needs.  May fill in for vacancies and absences when and where needed. Must have High School Diploma/GED and experience in a Preschool classroom.  30 hrs/wk, $11.10/hr

Teacher Aide – Floater  –Ballston Spa – Candidate must be willing to work where needed in Saratoga County within the Clifton Park and Ballston Spa area to assist the Lead and Assistant Teachers with daily Head Start classroom needs throughout Saratoga County.  Fills in for vacancies and absences when and where needed. Must have High School Diploma or GED, and experience in a Preschool classroom.  30 hrs/wk, school year, $11.10/hr.

Energy Services Crew Chief  Will assist with day-to-day operations of the department while overseeing work in the field.  Will receive work orders, coordinate with the energy auditor and proceed to client’s home to perform the prescribed job in a manner that is thorough, courteous, expeditious, and safe. Supervise all on-site personnel, organize work assignments and draw materials from inventory as needed. Ensure the correct application of Weatherization measures; in accordance with the standard work system (SWS). Responsible for knowledge of and incorporating newly provided Weatherization techniques, such as the Minneapolis blower door, digital manometer, combustion appliance zone (CAZ) testing, pressure diagnostics, etc. Complete all paperwork associated with the projects, ensure safety and maintain tool inventory. Minimum of 3 years “on-the-job” building construction experience and a High School Diploma/GED. Must have the ability to analyze, evaluate and solve problems based on appropriate math skills and carpentry experience. Must also have weatherization experience – doors, windows, insulation as well as experience with air sealing and blowing in cellulose insulation. A clean, valid New York State driver’s license is expected.

Energy Services Crew Member – two positions available

The ideal candidate will install energy savings measures in homes to reduce the energy burden on customers within Saratoga and Schenectady Counties.  Fulfill the work scope as directed by the Crew Chief and/or Production Supervisor including, but not limited to, work on ladders, basements, attics, outside and confining spaces.  Responsible for knowledge of and incorporating newly provided Weatherization techniques, such as the Minneapolis blower door, digital manometer, combustion appliance zone (CAZ) testing, pressure diagnostics, etc. Responsible for the safe operation of hand tools and equipment necessary for the installation of energy reduction measures including, but not limited to, installing high density blown cellulose in sidewalls and attics, replacing windows, and installing air-sealing measures. Maintain accurate documentation of work performed on each unit, including materials used and problems encountered.  Perform daily tests including health and safety and blower door tests on units and record results.

Candidate must have a High School Diploma/GED and a minimum of 3 years “on-the-job” building construction experience. The ability to analyze, evaluate and solve problems based on appropriate math skills and carpentry experience. The ability to lift 50 pound tools and equipment. Physically able to crawl under, in, and through tight and/or dirty spaces. Pull or reach with arms and/or hands, crouch, bend or kneel, climb stairs or ladders.  The ability to work from heights no greater than 25 feet. Be tolerant of exposure to all weather conditions (heat, cold, snow and rain); for periods up to 8 hours. Above average organizational and communication skills, ability to work independently, good interpersonal skills, and ability to maintain a positive attitude.  The ability to communicate effectively with people of diverse social and economic backgrounds. A clean, valid New York State driver’s license.

Latino Community Services Advocate – Bilingual

The Advocate will be responsible for providing direct advocacy services to limited English proficient clients in Saratoga County, the majority of who are Spanish speaking immigrants from Latin America. The Advocate will be clients’ primary point of contact with the agency and will assist them in accessing local resources, interpreting at various appointments and making appropriate referrals. Primary intake, assessment and case management for agency customers in crisis and emergency situations involving homelessness, hunger, domestic violence, mental health and substance abuse. Provide direct customer service through assessment, service planning, referral and advocacy processes. Issues that will be addressed include employment, housing, finances, health and finances. Candidate must be fluent in both Spanish and English to provide direct bilingual customer service and support through assessment, service planning, referral and advocacy processes. Able to demonstrate effective crisis management, good judgment, and have excellent communication skills.

Associates Degree preferred in social sciences including course work related to cultural diversity, Latin American/Latino studies, education, social work or human services or; High School Diploma/GED and 2 years’ experience in related field. Working knowledge of government and social services programs required as well as experience in performing basic social needs assessments.  Experience in crisis intervention, case management and advocacy is necessary.  The ability to supervise and coordinate volunteers is necessary.  Must have excellent communication and computer skills.  Finance and budgeting experience is a plus! Valid driver’s license is required.  This position is a full-time position offering a salary of $12.00 per hour with benefits.

Community Services Advocate

Primary intake, assessment and case management for agency customers in crisis and emergency situations involving homelessness, hunger, domestic violence, mental health and substance abuse. Provide direct customer service through assessment, service planning, referral and advocacy processes.  Advocate for customers to secure access to and assistance from appropriate sources. Assists in planning, scheduling and monitoring transportation, storage and distributions associated with community projects. Assists with Emergency Food Programs, Food Pantry, Rural Food Delivery and Soup Kitchen. Will perform free tax service for qualified customers through the VITA tax service. Able to demonstrate good judgment, communication skills, and effective crisis management skills.

An Associate’s Degree in Human Services is a plus or two years working in a related Human Services field and HSD/GED is required. Working knowledge of government and social services programs required as well as experience in performing basic social needs assessments.  Experience in crisis intervention, case management and advocacy is necessary.  The ability to supervise and coordinate volunteers is necessary.  Must have excellent communication and computer skills.  Finance and budgeting experience is a plus! Medical/Nutrition Assistant

Will play an integral role in providing clinic and office support to the staff.  Will gather information from clients and customers for nutrition assessments and perform a variety of support tasks including but not limited to determining program categorical eligibility along with residential and income eligibility.  Responsible for screening participants, collecting information for nutrition assessments, providing referrals, and assisting in planning and evaluating participant-centered nutrition education.  Candidate must have at least 2 years’ experience in nutrition services and/or a health related field or be an LPN. Position offers $12.00 per hour with benefits.
